I wasn't happy with either Presidential contenders this year. (Yes there are only "two" because the news media doesn't care about those without the almighty $$$) I realized that with the right amount of money anyone can "buy" an election. Last night I decided that I need an avenue to express my proposed "changes", because neither the Republicans or Democrats are going to be able to truely change this country. They will never be able to truely be "Mavericks" in going against their political parties to enact the kind of change we are going to need.
I've got some simple ideas that when enacted could provide us a much better world to live in. I plan on proposing my policy ideas and I welcome ALL comments because I realize that my brain isn't perfect and my ideas aren't fully formed policy ideas yet, but the more input I get the better they'll be.
At this point I don't know how often I'll post, but I'd like to get up here to propose my ideas as much as possible.

I think that we need to change the way votes are counted. Everyone voting should be given an IQ test on the spot when placing their vote. The higher the IQ then their vote has more voting points to be counted toward a vote. Maybe have three points that are attached to a vote (1-3) 3 points being the highest. One point would be the lowest value. This could always be adjusted. What do you think about this new way of voting?
I'm excited to see this evolve. A think a lot of us were inspired to be more politically involved (or at least vocal) by this election. I expect to have something up, myself, in the next few days. I'll post a link when it's up.
anonymous,
I do agree that we need to change the way votes are counted but the problem I see with the solution you propose is that there would be no way that we could all agree on a test to determine who's the smartest. Plus, then there would be too many people not voting because they would think that their not "smart" enough to vote and we need to make sure that everyone truely feels that their vote counts.
One of the problems with the current way that the voting is done now is that the candidates only care about "battle ground states". I live in a state that is very dominant to one party so we don't ever see presidential candidates here. It really sucks especially when you hear it reported that President-Elect Obama had a campaign office within 40 miles of every voter in the state of Virginia.
I'm also not sure that just going to a straight popular vote is the answer either because then the candidates would only spend time in the heavyly populated urban areas and those of us that live near the edge of civilization wouldn't feel that their vote has as much weight as those in the big cities.
Somehow we need every state to be a "battle ground state".
